Hilarious! I loved the videos. Where do you come up with these things? You're downright creative-- see, I told you that already. (Remember when I said I got bypassed when the creative genes were passed out?) Well, to be honest, I've entered one of my children's picture books in one contest, two categories. We shall wait and see. I entered my YA novel in three contests, already lost two. So I had to do the brain switching thing, although I'm not sure I recognized that's what I was doing! And just yesterday, I got an email for another contest. Sheesh, should I do it? Ummmm, thinking on it!

Thanks for commenting! Contests are my hobby, but I don't enter expensive ones. I like writing contests where you get to enter lots of categories for one price. I usually enter the Arkansas Writers' Contest (membership not required), OWFI contests (membership required), White County Creative Writers' Contest (no membership necessary), OKC Writers (membership required), and the Norman Galaxy of Writers (membership required). Sometimes, my writing will not even get a prize in one of these contests (or win less than first place), but then perhaps win 1st place in another contest. I use brain switching a lot!

I might have to check into some of these. The cost can really start adding up, that's for sure!

I find this brain switching difficult. Therefore when I win an award, I don't see it as "a really big deal." I don't have major publishers contacting me to ask about my winning work. Finally, I do believe that after a while some judges do know whose work they are reading and not because anyone is cheating. I've read some of your books and I read your blogs frequently. I know your style. Anyone reading my blog probably picks up on my style.

You make excellent points. I never thought about a judge recognizing a style, but I'm sure it does happen. Now, for my probably politically incorrect point: I know from having been a Contest Chair several times that it's really a bit of luck as to who wins. Contest Chairs aren't judges and do not enter the contests, but often, I don't agree with the rankings or selections (but whatever pieces were selected by the judges equal the winners, of course). Thanks for reading my writing. I read all of your posts and enjoy them. Is there a place where I can sign up to get them sent to my email? Right now, I read them from your Facebook posts. Thank you for commenting!
